Rachel McAdams may keep her personal life very quiet, but her longtime boyfriend Jamie Linden has had plenty of Hollywood success in his own right.

The Doctor Strange actress and We Are Marshall filmmaker were first romantically linked in May 2016 when they were spotted walking together in Paris but they've kept a very low profile throughout their relationship. Neither Linden nor McAdams have spoken publicly about their relationship, and the two have rarely been photographed together. However, McAdams has confirmed that they have had two children together, a son and a daughter.

He's a Florida native

Linden grew up in Winter Park, Florida, and attended Lake Howell high school alongside Friday Night Lights actor Scott Potter. He later enrolled at Florida State University where he majored in digital media production and marketing. He moved to the West Coast after graduating college in 2001.

He's a filmmaker

Linden got his start as a screenwriter in Hollywood in 2006 when his script for We Are Marshall was turned into a movie starring Matthew McConaughey. He also wrote the screenplay for the film adaption of Nicholas Sparks' Dear John and he made his directorial debut in 2011 with the film 10 Years — both starring Channing Tatum. He also co-produced both We Are Marshall and Dear John.

He has since written the screenplay for Money Monster, starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts, and worked on rewrites for the screenplay for the sci-fi movie Chaos Walking, starring Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley.

He was once a contestant on The Price is Right

After graduating college, Linden and his friends traveled to Los Angeles with tickets to the game show. "I won $5,000 and a Tuscan wine server cart. So I decided to stay," Linden said in an interview with Florida State University's College of Communication and Information's Alumni News. "I got a temp job reading screenplays and was fascinated by them. I was hired and fired from a few assistant jobs so I figured I'd try writing a script myself."

His relationship with McAdams has been low-key from the start

Though the couple have been dating since 2016, they have never walked a red carpet together.

In May 2016, McAdams and Linden were spotted together in Paris just ahead of the screenwriter's appearance at the Cannes Film Festival for his movie Money Monster. The two were spotted embracing as they waited in line for the famous Louvre art museum.

In June 2016, the couple attended a wedding together in Virginia. The two were snapped posing for a photo with the bride and a group of guests during the nuptials.

He has two children with McAdams

Linden and McAdams welcomed their first child, a son, in April 2018. Rumors that the couple became parents began after photos obtained by Hollywood Pipeline appeared to show McAdams walking beside boyfriend Jamie Linden, who was carrying a newborn baby in his arms.

McAdams was pregnant again in 2020 and later revealed in an interview to promote Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that she had given birth to a daughter.

Linden and McAdams have been extremely private about their children and have not revealed the names of either child publicly. After the birth of their son, McAdams told the Sunday Times, "I want to keep his life private, even if mine isn't."

He sold his first screenplay to Warner Bros., but it was never produced

Linden started in Hollywood as an assistant at Mirage Enterprises for Sidney Pollack and Anthony Minghella. Then, at age 24, he sold his first screenplay to Warner Bros.

"The first screenplay I wrote with my friend Cory Helms, a University of Florida grad, unfortunately, was called Things to Do Before I Die," he explained in an interview with Florida State University. "We got really lucky and Warner Bros. bought it and gave us a blind deal for another script."

Warner Bros. never produced Linden's first script, but the opportunity opened the door for Linden to pitch another idea — a film based on the real-life tragic story of a college football team that became the 2006 film We Are Marshall.

He has been a long-term collaborator with Channing Tatum

Tatum starred in Dear John, the 2010 romantic drama that was written and co-produced by Linden. Linden then directed Tatum in the 2011 film 10 Years, which was produced by Tatum along with two of the producers of Dear John.

In November 2019, Variety reported that Tatum would star in the film Soundtrack of Silence, which is based on a screenplay by Linden.

Tatum also thanked Linden in the credits of his directorial debut film, 2022's Dog.
