He is survived by his wife, Ivadelle Bergschneider, of the home, sisters-in-law, Eldeva Neill and Orville, and her husband, the Rev.

Mary was born on -October 1911 in Kansas City.

She was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Winter of Kansas City and spent most of her life here. She married James Arthur Broadhurst in 1961 and they enjoyed a good and happy marriage until his death in 1976. Mary's memory will be treasured by her many friends as a woman of abundant love and a passion for life; as well as a wry humor, generosity of spirit and good will toward everyone.

She was a wise and independent thinker with a steadfast strength of character. Always a. gifted and talented musiclan on the piano and organ, she was delighted to discover her ability as an artist later in her life. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her stepson, Kent Broadhurst of New York City. Mary will rest beside her husband and her parents in Calvary Cemetery.

and Alice P. (Ingram) Brown. At the age of two, Dale and his parents moved to his family's hometown of Macon, MO. He graduated from Macon High School in 1950. Dale went on to Northeast Missouri State Teacher's College (presently known as Truman State University), where he received his BA in Music Education in 1956 and his MA in Music Education in 1957.

Dale served in the U.S. Arthy from 1953-55. Mr. Brown began his teaching career in Choral and Instrumental Music in Missouri schools before joining the Center School District in 1962, where he worked until his retirement in 1985. After his retirement, Dale did substitute music teaching for Shawnee Mission schools.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Gunselman Brown, two children, Stephen E. Brown and his wife, Susan, Vista, CA, and Mary Ann James and her husband, David, Olathe, KS, and three grandchildren, Drew and Rachel Brown, and Jordan James. He will be missed by family and friends.

She worked for Gentiva Health Services for 11 years, where she was a senior manager in the Information Technology Department. He was born in Odessa, MO, and was a lifelong area resident. (Arr: The Louis Memorial Chapel) KENNETH KRAKAUER Kenneth Krakauer, 82, Kansas City, MO, died June 16, 2001, after a brief illness. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at The Louis Memorial Chapel; burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Born September 10, 1918, he was the son of Julian and Bernice Krakauer and the great-grandson of Bernhard Ganz, who, along with Herman Ganz, were the first permanent Jewish settlers in Kansas City. Ken attended Faxon, Border Star and Southwest High Schools. He graduated from the University of Missouri of School of Journalism in 1938, was elected to Kappa Tau Alpha honorary society for journalism, was captain of the golf team, and president of the his fraternity, Zeta. Beta Tau. Ken served in the Signal Corps and the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He was navigator on a B-24 bomber in the European Theater, flew 27 missions, and was awarded the Air Medal with Five Oak Leaf Clusters. Ken was a lifelong resident of Kansas City. He loved the city and its history and cherished researching and writing about it. He was an energetic civic leader who was instrumental in shaping the progress and development of the Kansas City of his time. He was the owner and President of Adler's, a chain of women's specialty stores, founded in 1894, by his, grandfather, Bernhard Adler.

He was President of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce 1963-4; President of Magnetic Imaging, and Chairman of the Committee for County Progress, 1966-68, an organization founded to reform Jackson County politics and government. He also was Chairman of Community Studies, President of the Missouri Seniors Golf Association 1993-4; Secretary of the Kansas City Crime Commission; Vice President of Menorah Medical Center, of which he was also a director for 42 years; and a Vice-President of Oakwood Country Club, a club director, and its historian. He was Chairman and Co-founder of the Kansas City Chapter of the American Jewish Committee; Co-Chairman of the Kansas City chapter of the National Conference of Christians and Jews; and served as director of the Barstow School, Visiting Nurses Association, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, UMKC University Associates, Jewish Family Services, and the Jewish Community Relations Bureau. Ken served as Vice President of the Kansas City Golf Foundation; Director of the Missouri Golf Association; Director and Historian of the Kansas City Golf Association; and on the Board of the Junior Golf Foundation of Greater Kansas City. A writer, Ken authored the book, "When "Golf Came to Kansas City," in 1986, winner of the National Golf Foundation's Eckhoff Award.

He authored articles in Golf Digest and Golf Journal and was editor of Tee Time, the Kansas City Golf Association newsletter. Ken's passion, from childhood, was golf: playing it, watching it, working the area and regional tournaments, promoting junior golf, and advancing every aspect of the sport, from one-on-one guidance of youngsters showing an interest to participation in the many golf organizations to which he gave his time. Kenneth Krakauer was a man strength, pride, dignity, and patience. His integrity was beyond reproach. He had the courage of his convictions--even under pressure and when his positions were difficult or unpopular.

He formed personal friendships with people from all walks of life in every endeavor he undertook. He was the ultimate gentleman. He will be sorely missed. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Jane Rieger Krakauer; daughter, Rendee Krakauer Kelley; son, Rex Rieger Krakauer; grandsons, Tyler Randall Greif and Eli Jordan Greif; son-in-law, Michael J. Bob was born on October 5, 1917, in Leavenworth, KS, to Robert Lange Sr. Gretchen (Wuest) Lange, where he grew up and graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1936. He was graduated from Wentworth Military Junior College in 1938. He graduated from Baker University in 1947. Bob was an Army veteran of WWII.

He served in Cannon Company, 334th Infantry, 84th Railsplitters Regiment. He was a member of the American Legion Post Bob worked as an accountant for several different south Kansas City companies from 1954 -1982. He then held a private practice as a tax accountant until March of 1997. He was a member of the National Accountants Association for 13 years and a member of the Insurance Auditors Association of Kansas City until 1973. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Methodist Men, and an usher.

He celebrated his birthday on February 12 until he discovered his birth certificate read February 14. His brother and sisters called him Buddy, his wife and close friends called him Penny, and to everyone else he was Jim. He grew up in the South, attending Broken Bow High School in Oklahoma where he was valedictorian.

He was a starting quarterback at the University of Oklahoma. He received his law degree from Tulane University in Louisiana, winning the Senior Moot Court competition in 1949. He served as a pilot in the Air Transport Command of the Army Air Corps during World War I1, attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He flew his B-24 bomber under the Golden Gate Bridge in the 1944 movie, "Winged Victory." On September 21, 1950, he married Nancy Ann Strong, and last year they celebrated 50 years together. In 1956, their daughter Lane was born.

In 1989, he retired from the Dodson Insurance Group where he had been a vice president and general counsel. During his career, he was also a much sought-after speaker. He loved England and visited Britain many times. Golf was his passion, and he loved watching football, but his favorite activity was fishing with his grandson Logan. His deep voice and commanding presence made him seem larger than life, and his unquenchable optimism sustained us all. His was an indomitable spirit. (Bissing) Slimm, age 97, passed away June 17, 2001, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Margaret was bom September 14, 1903, in Hays, KS, to Jacob and Katherine Bissing. She was the last surviving child of a family of seven boys and six girls. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William J. Slimm, and by her two daughters, Billie Lou Murphy and Peggy Jean Dinges.

She is survived by her only son, Phillip J. Slimm and wife, Marcia, and nine grandchildren, 23 greatgrandchildren, and one great-greatgrandchild. Margaret resided in Kansas City, MO, since 1940. She was a top sales producer for the Reliable Life Insurance in the mid to late '40s. She was active in the Missouri Republican Party and served as a state committee woman from 1945 to 1949.

She was very proud of her voting record, having voted in person or by absentee ballot for every city, state, or National election since 1940. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, friend to all, and an excellent cook and seamstress. She was still embroidering up until the last weeks of her life. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. The family thanks the wonderful staff a at Carondelet Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since April 1998.

An Army Air Corps veteratt of World War 11, he served in the South Pacific Theatre.

He was a member of the Amerk can Legion, V.F.W., Elks Lodge. Rotary Club, Mules Jennies Booster at CMSU Ambassador with the Chamber of Commerce, former President of the Johnson County Historical Society, Veterans of Safety, and First United Methodist Church, all of Warrensburg, and served on the Community Council at Whiteman Air Force Base. On April 21, 1946, he married Ima Mae Skinner in Karistis City. She survives of the home. Also surviving are three daughters, Ginger Lee Reader, Warrensburg, Lois Mae Merle and Jetuan Swift, both of Lee's Summit, three sons; Charles Rowland West, Seattle, WA, Robert West, Andover, KS, and Jesse West, Lee's Summit, 10 grandchijaren, one great-grandson, three sisters, Nancy Marguerite Rowe, Hughes, Raytown, and Jean Wharton; Holden, and two brothers, Hubert West, Grand Rapids, MI, and Lloyd West, Kana sas City.
